Frequently Asked Questions
Biting Into Your Questions
Insurance & Payment
Do you work with my dental insurance carrier?
We do accept most major dental insurance plans, including Cigna, Delta Dental, MetLife, and many more. See /insurance for a detailed list or call (512) 858-6987 for confirmation.
How can I move forward if I don’t have dental insurance?
No insurance is needed. Our Gloss Dental Membership starts at $25/month and includes cleanings, exams, routine X-rays, plus reduced costs on other care.
Can dental treatment be financed?
Absolutely. Qualified patients may use payment and financing options available through partners like CareCredit.
Checkups & Treatments
How often should I book a dental exam?
Routine dental care is usually advised every six months. Addressing oral health concerns early helps keep treatment straightforward, with personalized visit timing as appropriate.
How often should I be brushing my teeth every day?
The ADA suggests maintaining a routine of brushing at least two times per day. After acidic intake, a 30-minute wait before brushing helps preserve enamel.
Which Cleans Better—Electric or Manual Toothbrushes?
With good technique, either type can clean teeth well, but studies suggest electric toothbrushes are more efficient at plaque reduction. Sonicare and Oral-B designs assist with cleaning difficult areas.
How soon should my child visit the dentist for the first time?
Kids can start seeing the dentist as early as age 3, or whenever they’re comfortable in the chair. Early appointments help track oral development and promote good habits.
How do I address concerns about bad breath?
Unpleasant breath is frequently linked to plaque accumulation, bacterial growth, or gum disease. Managing it may include cleanings, brushing the tongue, consistent flossing and rinsing, and reducing spicy foods. If it lasts, schedule a visit.
What is the role of a night guard?
A night guard is a specially made, clear mouth appliance worn while sleeping to reduce teeth grinding, clenching, and TMJ-related discomfort.
What are my dental replacement options for missing teeth?
Our restorative options include fixed treatments such as implants and bridges and removable solutions like dentures and partials. Fixed restorations provide a natural feel, and we’ll personalize recommendations to your oral health.
How do dental implants function as tooth replacements?
There are two stages to dental implants. A titanium post is inserted into the jawbone, and once healed, a crown, bridge, or denture is attached. Implants restore both appearance and function long term.
What signs might mean I have gum disease?
Early signs may include bleeding gums, ongoing bad breath, and teeth that feel loose or tender. Since gum disease can be silent, consistent exams are important for timely treatment.
Do dentists use safe X-rays during exams?
Yes. Today’s dental X-rays are digital and use very small amounts of radiation—well below daily sun exposure—while our team follows thorough safety measures with modern technology.
